I have lived in Milwaukee for 12 years. I love good food, really good food, and I like to go out. A lot. This blog was born out of my “restaurant list” that I gave to new hires where I work so they’d know where to go to eat and have some fun in their new city. I have now turned that list into a blog. The whole list is not here. Yet. It is a work in progress. Enjoy!
Next week is World Water Week, and La Merenda, Meritage, Beans & Barley and Hinterlands, and maybe Wicked Hop, are joining hundreds of other restaurants around the country to support the Tap Project. During that week, they will ask patrons to donate $1 for tap water that they normally get for free to support the UNICEF Tap Project, helping to provide the world’s children with clean, safe drinking water. $1 provides a child with safe water for 40 days. Peter, the owner of La Merenda has helped spearhead recruiting restaurants. This is something Milwaukee can be a leader in, supporting safe, sustainable water use. And the participating restaurants are big supporters of sustainable, locally sourced ingredients. I included the Tap Project Milwaukee website below that has more info.
Hey there,
We met on the plane from Boston to Milwaukee a few weeks ago in July. I was seated next to you actually.
We started talking about food and you reccomended La Merenda and Circa 1880. Excellent choices!
I had the opportunity to eat at La Merenda and it was marvelous! What a wonderful eating experience, the octopus was especially well cooked.
Thank you for the inside scoop. Till we fly again..
Hi Dana. Glad you checked out my blog and so happy you had a great experience at La Merenda!
Congrats on an excellent Milwaukee restaurant blog. There aren’t too many of them that are well-written and insightful. This one is both!
With appreciation,
Jonathan
Thank you Jonathan. That is very kind of you. I appreciate the feedback!
