Kanpai

I will keep this one short and sweet. Go! If you like sushi, put it on your list to pay a visit. It was really very good sushi and a lot of interesting options. I went with 3 other people and we unanimously agreed.

Wagayu poppers – yum! – and for those who know me, you know I do not normally like peppers.

Braised short ribs – put the ones we had at Hinterland the night before, to shame.

Some things were a bit unusual. That’s because the waiter told us their goal is to “American-ize” Japanese and Korean food. Purists may turn up their nose. I will not. I liked the fact they put a little cheese on the Volcano roll. It was tasty.

They have a terrific selection which makes it hard to decide what to order. Lots of interesting rolls, your traditional nigiri, maki and sashimi options, and plenty of other seafood and meat entrees to choose from as well.

Oh and for dessert, jalapeno green tea ice cream with chocolate sauce. Once again, it appears I now like jalapenos!

And to my Third Ward friends, don’t forget it’s open for lunch!
