Restaurants in Europe

17 Jun

I know this blog is all about places to eat and drink in Milwaukee, but I cannot help but post a list of a couple places C and I visited on our trip in case you find yourselves in need of a good suggestion someday.

Rome – Ristorante Life. Via della Vite 29.
I did my research and it paid off. I lovely restaurant that clearly was for the locals, not the tourists. Off the main shopping area on a tiny little back street. It was ridiculously good. Even the pizza we had was superb. I believe it may have been here that C. discovered he actually liked truffle oil.

Seville – La Moderna. c/Mateos Gago, 7
We stopped for lunch after scouting out all sorts of places. The wait paid off. Cute little place that did not have an English menu (always better that way). We ordered what we thought we knew and were not dissapointed. A few other tourists showed up and since no one could read the menu, they all ordered what we had. It was amusing.

Barcelona – La Vinoteca Torres – Passeig de Gracia, 78
Been here twice now. So good the first time we were in Barcelona, we went back for lunch on this visit. Despite the fact it is on the fancy pants street – right outside Gucci – it is totally low key and delicious and affordable. How can you beat Spanish cheese, croquettes, olives and chickpeas with squid and black sausage for lunch. Yum!

Rousillion – Le Castrum – PLace de la Mairie
Should you find yourself in Provence make sure to stop at the quaint little village. Once again we scoped out most of the places in town before picking one and in our opinion found a good one. One of the biggest, freshest salads you can imagine.

London – Lucio – 257 Fulham Road
C.’s best friend and his wife took us here for dinner. It is one of their favorites and right around the corner from where they live. Italian. It was excellent and unique. I mean where do you get courgette flowers stuffed with goat cheese around here?
