Cubanitas

26 Mar

I got lucky tonight. My Duke Blue Devils went down in flames last night and I thought I was going to have a depressing Friday night watching basketball with my babies not being in the hunt. My outstanding boyfriend said “hey we can watch it streaming on our NCAA App and I will take you out for dinner”. XO!

We decided on Cubanitas. We had not been there for a couple years. It was just as yummy as I recalled. Beef and cheese empanada, black bean soup (positively divine) and roasted pork. Yum. Took the leftover pork home to make a nice little cuban sandwich this weekend. He had Mahi Mahi – I am not a fish kind of gal (except salmon which I love) and he enjoyed it thoroughly.

My only nit – they must be going green. After the first course our waitress neatly placed our silverware on the table. Ick. I asked for fresh utensils and she happily brought us clean ones. I get the green thing, but this may have been a bit much. But no worries, she did not mind at all bringing us a new table setting so all is good.

FYI – they have Cuban Baby Back Ribs on Tuesday’s. This may require a swing by for take out. I asked if they use the mealmobile.com for delivery. (Soon to be a new posting). She said not on a regular basis but you can pay a little extra and mealmobile.com will stop by and pick it up. YAY!!

All in all a good pick if you like casual and Cuban and the fun little vibe that Milwaukee Street brings to downtown.

Their mojitos and plantain chips are my faves. Haven’t been there in a while, but now am thinking I will have to try it again soon!
